Enjoy African drumming at Edinburgh's Usher Hall

Published on 24th Feb 2010
People going out in Edinburgh may be interested in a celebration of African music and dance taking place at the Usher Hall next month.

Rebels: Banging the drum for Africa! will feature 50 of the city's most talented young performers to bring some of the major political and social issues from the continent to life.

Taking place from 11am to 1pm on March 5th, this free event represents the debut performance by the Young Promoters of the Usher Hall.

Situated on Lothian Road in the west end of the Scottish capital, the Usher Hall should already be familiar to people looking for things to do in Edinburgh.

The concert venue opened in 1914 and has undergone several phases of redevelopment work after part of the auditorium's ceiling collapsed during a performance in 1996.

Other upcoming events at the hall include an appearance by the Jerry Dammers Spatial AKA Orchestra on March 31st.
