Edinburgh venue serves up 'dark' stand-up comedy

Published on 18th Jan 2010
People seeking things to do in Edinburgh may like to head to the Jekyll and Hyde for a free night of stand-up comedy next month.

On Thursday February 4th, the Hanover Street venue is hosting Heresy, an evening of fresh and funny talent presided over by compere Rick Molland.

However, the night promises to be somewhat different from the average comedy gig, as it is described by the organisers as a "heady mix of the weird and wonderful with a touch of darkness thrown in for good measure".

Meanwhile, the List website has labelled Heresy a "censor-free night of comedic devilment".

While people who are easily offended could be advised to stay away, those with an appreciation of anarchic Scottish comedians such as Frankie Boyle should find much to enjoy here.

The show gets underway at 9pm and although admission is free, people going out in Edinburgh are asked to "chuck a few quid in the bucket" if they enjoy themselves.
